MEET THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES
At Central Hall we have a host of friendly leaders and volunteers. We’re all happy to help with any issues or concerns you might have, or if you just want to chat. Below are just some of our leaders and volunteers from the youth team:
Veronica is our youth administrator who organises events and deals with the day to day running of the youth church at Central Hall. As well as this, she often teaches on the bible in our church and youth groups. Veronica has followed Christ for much of her life and really believes in the importance of youth ministry.
Alison is our youth and children’s team leader. Alison teaches in a local primary school. She has worked in a voluntary capacity for many years with the young people at Central Hall. Alison is a gifted musician and very creative.
Julie is the children’s coordinator. She heads up the holiday clubs, weekends away and events for primary aged children, as well as spearheading the midweek work with the 7 – 11 year olds. A teacher by profession Julie also helps lead the youth festivals and summer camps in Cornwall. Julie is particularly gifted in drama and leads excellent youth drama.
Graham is famous for ‘Graham’s games’ nights at the 11-14 year olds youth club. An electrician by profession Graham has been an amazing asset to the crazy lighting and constant wiring needed to keep all the TVs, Xboxes and Wiis running at the club. He is also great at knocking down walls with the youth!
Ted has been involved in the youth and children’s work for many years. As well as working as a lecturer in mathematics at the university, he is, amongst many other things, involved in widening participation days and the school of education. Ted leads at the youth camps as well as weekly in the youth clubs; with expertise in leading a successful youth puppet team and writing their scripts.
Lisa is one of our newest volunteers. She is working with our older youth group on Friday nights and comes with professional expertise having worked with various housing associations that provided Plymouth City Council funded support services for young people.
Chris and her husband Jason run the youth café in JC’s at Central Hall. This is one of the favourite areas for the young people (and adults!) and Chris keeps it stocked up with a vast variety of sweets, cheese toasties and chips! Chris was formerly a GB officer and heads up a part of the under 5’s work as well as helping at youth group on a weekly basis. Professionally, Chris is a carer looking after both old and young people as well as helping Jason with interior design.
Mark is a Deacon at the church. He is a qualified Outdoor Pursuits leader specialising in climbing. Mark helps in the youth group and is famous for leading an abseil off Sheep’s Tor on Dartmoor at 3am in the morning last winter! He leads our outdoor activities, especially with those in the older youth groups, and also leads ministry at Central Hall.
